Native Staking

Hi there đź‘‹

Native staking is the process of delegating or locking a PoS blockchain’s native token to help secure the network and earn rewards in return.

When you stake natively, your tokens are typically delegated to validators that participate in block production and network consensus. Rewards are generated from protocol issuance and transaction fees, and they vary depending on network conditions and participation rates.

Native staking often includes an unbonding period, which means withdrawals may require a waiting time before funds become transferable again. The main risks of native staking include slashing, which is a penalty applied if a validator misbehaves or remains offline, and liquidity risk, since staked assets may not be immediately available. You are also exposed to market risk because the token price can fall while your assets are locked or unbonding.
